I Forgot How to Be Happy

I don’t know when it started. Maybe it was the day I stopped laughing at things I used to find funny. Or the moment I woke up and felt… nothing. I go through the motions — brushing my teeth, showing up to class, pretending I’m okay. But there’s this weight on my chest, like someone’s sitting there, daring me to try and breathe normally.

People ask me, “How are you?” and I smile. I always smile. Because it’s easier than explaining that I can’t even remember the last time I felt genuinely okay. It’s like I’m underwater, watching everyone else live their lives, and I’m just stuck — sinking a little more every day.

I guess I’m writing this because I want to know I’m not alone. If you’ve ever forgotten what happiness feels like too… maybe you’ll read this and feel a little less alone too
